180-degree dome bookshelf！Reading while spinning in Mexico

While travel nowadays often revolves around food, shopping, and sightseeing, sometimes I also enjoy visiting art galleries or admiring local architecture, especially libraries. There are often online articles featuring unique libraries around the world, but most focus on extravagant designs.

What I’m introducing this time features a completely different design,MexicoConarte, a cultural unit under the Monterrey City Council, recently commissioned Anagrama to design an unconventional library space, aiming to enhance the public’s reading experience.

The space features a minimalist design, accented by wooden bookshelves and a powder-blue staircase to create a comfortable reading environment. The most distinctive feature is its 180-degree dome-shaped, large-scale bookshelf that not only increases shelf utilization but also enhances the visual sense of space through the movement of the line of sight and lighting design, giving the impression of being inside a semi-circle with no blind spots.

In addition to the bookshelves, the interior also adopts an open layout, with books neatly arranged without being too densely packed. Coupled with the airy surroundings, it allows readers to immerse themselves even more deeply in the world of books. If it officially opens, it’s sure to attract many book-loving youngsters to come and experience it.
