Money Sand Art

The coin-shaped sand art at Kotoden-Karakami Park is 90 meters long and 122 meters wide. It’s said to have been created overnight in 1633 by villagers under orders from the feudal lord to welcome Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu on his inspection tour of Shikoku. Preserved to this day and maintained twice a year by the government, it’s believed that those who see this sand art will enjoy good health, longevity, and endless prosperity.
