Resumption of flights in September to launch Tokyo route   Limited-time offer: round-trip for just NT$9,000

Japan has always been a top choice for Taiwanese travelers, and with the recent depreciation of the yen, interest in Japanese destinations has surged. Following the launch of its Palau route, TransAsia Airways has added a Tokyo route, officially commencing flights between Taoyuan and Tokyo Narita on September 26. The airline will offer one round-trip flight daily and introduce special deals on tickets and group tours to accommodate various travel plans.

According to statistics from the Tourism Bureau, in the first half of 2013, one in every five Taiwanese travelers went to Japan, with over 1.1 million visits, a 51% increase compared to the same period last year. Japan has surpassed Hong Kong to become the top overseas destination for Taiwanese, after mainland China. Building on its strong presence in the Japanese market, TransAsia Airways launched its ninth Japanese destination—Tokyo—on September 26 under the cross-strait open skies policy, making it the first Northeast Asian capital city the airline has resumed flights to.

TransAsia’s Taoyuan–Tokyo route will be operated by either the A320 aircraft, which seats up to 150 passengers, or the A321, with 182 seats. One round-trip flight will be available daily. The flight departs Taoyuan at 8:10 a.m. and arrives in Tokyo at 12:20 p.m. local time. The return flight leaves Tokyo Narita at 1:20 p.m. and arrives back in Taoyuan at 3:45 p.m., with a flight duration of approximately 3 hours and 10 minutes. Leaving Taipei in the morning and having lunch in Tokyo by noon, or returning to Taipei in the evening and having the rest of the night to unwind, makes this early departure/noon arrival schedule ideal for office workers and family travelers.

To celebrate the official launch, TransAsia is giving back to travelers with special offers on tickets and group tours. Travelers departing before October 15 can enjoy round-trip economy class fares starting at NT$9,000 (excluding tax, 14-day ticket validity). The number of discounted seats available on each flight is limited and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
