Located near the campus of Taiwan Normal University, “Grateful Noodles Shop” greets visitors with the loud, enthusiastic voice of owner Qiu Jinyi shouting “Come on in, come on in!” as soon as you step inside. Compared to the usual price of over 100 NTD for a bowl of beef noodles, here you can get one for just 75 NTD. This budget-friendly price attracts students to dine here regularly.

“Grateful Noodles Shop” specializes in beef-based rice and noodle dishes. The freshly served beef noodles exude the rich aroma of beef broth even before you take a bite. Despite being very affordable, the portion of beef is generous. The broth tastes sweet and savory, and when you try the beef, its deliciousness enhances the sweetness of the broth even more. The beef is tender, juicy, and flavorful, while the golden handmade noodles are delightfully chewy.

Owner Qiu Jinyi said that when they first opened in Yangmingshan, their signature dish was beef soup dumplings. They have always insisted on using fresh cabbage and pork for the filling, and the beef broth is simmered with a specially made secret spice bag.

Qiu Jinyi mentioned that the most important thing in running a shop is to think from the consumer’s perspective and maintain rigorous quality control. From the broth, noodles, to the meat, every element is personally supervised at every stage. He said that during the U.S. beef controversy, their business remained unaffected because they guaranteed the beef came from Australia. As long as you put yourself in the customers’ shoes, they will naturally come back.

Regular customer Mr. He, who often dines here with his family, said the owner is genuinely warm and friendly, always greeting guests loudly. The food is generous and high-quality, and his whole family has been coming here faithfully for years. Meng, a student at Taiwan Normal University, said classmates often meet up here after class to eat noodles because the prices are student-friendly, the portions are big, and the food is both tasty and filling—great value for money.

Qiu Jinyi mentioned that he named the shop “Grateful Noodles Shop” because he had gone through a rough period in life, struggling with debt. Later, he realized the importance of having a grateful heart at all times. He feels thankful for growing from a street vendor to owning a shop, and he donates 10% of his monthly income to charity.
