The 2013 Tainan Creative Life Festival kicks off on September 6th – Open your Life!

Organized by the Ministry of Culture to promote Tainan’s cultural and creative industries, the “2013 Tainan Creative Life Festival” will officially open on September 6th. This year’s festival takes “OPEN” as its theme, emphasizing that “Creativity is in everyday life – Open your Life!”

The former site of the Tainan Cultural and Creative Park was once the Tainan branch of the Governor-General's Monopoly Bureau during the Japanese colonial period, handling tobacco and other monopolized goods. After 2004, to enhance Tainan’s tourism appeal, the Ministry of Culture took over the renovation of the park, aiming to combine Tainan’s rich historical and cultural heritage to develop it into a hub for cultural and creative industries.

The “2013 Tainan Creative Life Festival” uses “OPEN” as its theme, highlighting that “Creativity is in everyday life – Open your Life!” It also extracts the letter “O” from OPEN to create a “donut” design concept. Taiwan’s top ten designers were invited to interpret this “donut” idea, showcasing their creative spirit while bringing a sweet sense of happiness to the park. The event also features “Taiwan’s No.1 Duo – Hao Jiao Xiang Qi” as spokespersons. On the opening day, they will unveil a mysterious treasure box symbolizing the “2013 Tainan Creative Life Festival,” kicking off fifteen days of exciting activities from September 6th to September 20th.

The site also features four major series of events: “Open City – Urban Treasure Hunt,” “Open House – New Life for Historic Buildings,” “Open Mind – Top Ten Design Stars Exhibition & Art Salon,” and “Open Live – Weekend Carnival Nights.” The public can register for participation on the official website, with different series offering various performances or treasure hunts. Additionally, seven bestselling authors and celebrities with deep connections and fond memories of Tainan culture (Wu Bingcheng, Xu Mingsong, Dingdong, Wang Haoyi, Wu Feng, Roulu, Wang Meixia) will engage in dialogue sessions centered around the creativity of Open Mind and the human touch of Tainan, all joining in this “2013 Tainan Creative Life Festival.”
