The final remaining hot air balloon event of this summer, the “2013 Hualien Soaring Season,” is entering its final countdown. To date, it has attracted over 700,000 visitors. On the closing day, September 1st, in addition to performances by indigenous dance troupes and local performing groups, the organizers will also distribute 800 souvenirs to visitors. Don’t miss your last chance to soar above Hualien in a hot air balloon.

Following the conclusion of hot air balloon events at Clear Lake and Taitung, the Hualien Soaring Season is this summer’s last opportunity to take to the skies. Affected by Typhoon Kong-rey in recent days, weather conditions have been unstable. However, with the typhoon moving away, the chances of hot air balloon flights are high, and visibility is expected to be better. The Hualien County Government announced that a “Hot Air Balloon Event Gratitude and Celebration Party” will be held at 4 p.m. on September 1st at the Dafeng-Dafu Flatland Forest Park in Guangfu Township, bidding farewell to the soaring season with music and dancing.

Since its launch on June 22nd, the Soaring Season has faced disruptions due to three typhoons, resulting in a five-and-a-half-day closure of the venue. Despite this, hot air balloons have taken flight every day during the event, allowing visitors to witness the skills of hot air balloon pilots from around the world. The county government noted that after the hot air balloon event ends, visitors can explore the golden flower seasons at Chike Mountain and Liushishi Mountain in Hualien. The nation’s largest indigenous joint Harvest Festival is also about to begin.
