Starting October, Yehliu National Scenic Area to limit visitor numbers; ticket prices to increase next year

Yehliu Ecological Park has long been a must-visit attraction for mainland Chinese tourists coming to Taiwan. With China’s “Golden Week” holiday starting in October, Taiwan’s tourism season also enters its peak period. To maintain the quality of the visitor experience, the North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau will launch a visitor diversion plan for peak hours at Yehliu starting October 1. The daily visitor limit for tour groups will be reduced from 3,000 to 2,500, while individual travelers will not be subject to the restriction.

The North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration stated that nearly 70% of current visitors to Yehliu Park are from mainland China. With China’s so-called “Golden Week” about to begin, visitor numbers at Yehliu are expected to surge significantly. Therefore, a visitor control system has been specially implemented. Entry will be restricted between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., and between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily. Tour groups must make reservations one day in advance. When the park reaches its 2,500-visitor limit, the ticket booth will display a “red light,” and unreserved tour groups will not be allowed entry.

To facilitate reservations, the administration offers multiple booking channels. Visitors can make reservations by phone, fax, online, or via mobile app one day before or before 8:00 a.m. on the day of their visit. Starting next year, the ticket price for Yehliu Geopark will be raised from NT$50 to NT$80. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the current rate before the end of this year.
