Healing vibes are blowing too – a dreamy giant whale swims into Taipei

The healing trend is sweeping across Taiwan again. After the little yellow duck stirred up a duck craze in the harbor city, the Paper Windmill Theatre Troupe has brought in the world’s largest blue dream sperm whale, spanning over 68 meters, which has now arrived at Taipei Youth Park. Visitors can walk into the whale’s mouth and explore its body to experience the vibrant underwater world created in the Sperm Whale Theme Pavilion. The site also features various giant inflatable cartoon characters, allowing both children and adults to relive their childhood memories.

The “Taiwan Animals & Insects Creative Exhibition” launched by the Paper Windmill Cultural and Educational Foundation debuted at Youth Park on October 5. The most eye-catching attraction is the massive inflatable sperm whale made in Taiwan, about the size of five basketball courts and four stories tall. It is 50 meters longer than the little yellow duck, takes 24 hours to inflate, and can accommodate 300 people at a time. Its size is three times that of a real sperm whale.

The Animals & Insects Creative Exhibition features seven major exhibition areas, including the Sperm Whale Theme Pavilion, the Giant Animals & Insects Zone, the Creative Fun Zone, the Taiwan Animals Zone, the Interactive Game Zone, the Deep Sea Fish Theater, and the Taiwan Celebrity Animals & Insects Charity Auction Area. A common highlight throughout the venue is the presence of large inflatable animal and insect characters, instantly transporting visitors into a fairy-tale world and lightening their mood.

The Sperm Whale Theme Pavilion uses a theatrical setup – as soon as you step into the whale’s belly, you’ll see jellyfish, giant octopuses, coral reefs, and even fish bones left behind by the whale, creating the illusion of being in a real underwater world. Paper Windmill explains that the ocean is vast and boundless, and whales swimming freely within it symbolize the pursuit of dreams. The exhibition also incorporates environmental themes, with trash and waste visible inside the whale’s body, reminding humans to stop damaging marine ecosystems.
