Taipei residents don’t need to head to Yilan or Taoyuan for a one-day trip. Even in this bustling metropolis, there are plenty of great spots to relax and enjoy nature. With strawberry season here, farms in Taipei’s Neihu District have started harvesting, and besides picking strawberries, you can also plan a one-day trip around the area — hike trails, ride bikes, and take in the night view — all without the hassle of long commutes, offering amazing value for your time！

Strawberry Picking Farms

In addition to Dahu in Miaoli, Taipei’s Neihu is also an important strawberry-growing area in northern Taiwan. The number of strawberry farms in Neihu has increased from just 7 or 8 to 18 today, offering many choices. These farms have been open for strawberry picking since early December, and the season lasts until May of the following year — making them a great weekend leisure activity for people in the northern region.

Baishihu Suspension Bridge

Dubbed “Taipei’s Stairway to Heaven,” the Baishihu Suspension Bridge is Taipei’s first long-span suspension bridge. The bridge features a spine-like design, with raised sections that connect the two sides like the vertebrae of a dragon soaring over the valley. Its twisted structure symbolizes a coiling dragon, and its bold color scheme makes it stand out against the mountain backdrop, making it a key new landmark in the park.

Baishihu Twin-Heart Pond

The “Twin-Heart Pond,” an ecological wetland spring transformed from an abandoned artesian well, features a unique twin-heart shape. Alongside the pond is the “Eternal Bond Pavilion,” creating a serene waterside setting where the wetland and viewing platforms complement each other, also symbolizing “everlasting togetherness.” It’s a romantic destination for couples and lovers, decorated with seasonal flowers throughout the year, each bringing its own charm.

Bishan Rock

Overlooking the Taipei Basin, Bishan Rock offers sweeping daytime views — from the winding Tamsui River in the distance to the nearby Luyishan Mountain, terraced fields at its base, and a panoramic view of Jinlong Temple. At night, it provides a stunning view of the Taipei Basin, including the Taipei 101 building, Grand Hotel, Songshan Airport, and the bright lights of East Taipei, making it a popular night view spot in the city.

Dahu Park

In addition to its large grassy areas and shaded groves, Dahu Park’s Jindai Bridge night view has been featured on the website of France’s Le Monde and the UK’s Daily Mail, even winning the top spot in a global online poll for the most beautiful bridge. During the day, the lakeside scenery is picturesque, while the evening lighting adds a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. Every winter, the park also showcases beautiful bald cypress foliage, making it perfect for strolling and picnicking.

Rainbow Riverside Park

Located along the Keelung River between the Zhongshan Expressway and the Muzha No. 1 Bridge, Rainbow Riverside Park features expansive riverside scenery that’s refreshing and uplifting. With nearly 20 kilometers of cycling paths, it’s a favorite spot for cyclists year-round. From mid-January to February each year, the park is covered with vast sunflower fields, and it’s also a great place to watch the Taipei 101 fireworks on New Year’s Eve.

Jinmian Mountain Hiking Trail

The Jinmian Mountain hiking trail in Neihu has become a popular cliffside attraction in Taipei due to its uniquely shaped scissors rock at the summit. Although the mountain is only 258 meters above sea level, it still boasts a majestic alpine vibe. Sitting on the scissors rock, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the vast cityscape of Taipei and the streets of Neihu, satisfying both hiking and photo-taking needs in one go.
