2013 Hakka Cultural Festival – “Dragons in the Lotus Pond, FUN Hakka Tunes” Kicks Off This Weekend in Longtan

The “2013 Taoyuan Hakka Cultural Festival” kicks off on the 6th in areas such as Longtan and Pingzhen in Taoyuan, featuring a series of activities over three consecutive weeks including “Dragons in the Lotus Pond, FUN Hakka Tunes,” “Mass Choir Singalong,” and “Hakka Rice Dumpling Competition,” inviting the public to experience traditional Hakka arts and promote Hakka culture.

The “Dragons in the Lotus Pond, FUN Hakka Tunes” concert event will start at 2 PM on the 6th in lively Longtan. To attract younger generations, the organizers will feature rock versions of Hakka mountain songs, showcasing the vitality of Hakka culture. The event will also include warm-up performances of string music, dance, theater, and storytelling arts, along with appearances by a rock band and the gymnastics team from Shuanglong Elementary School. The goal is to “rock” the hearts of the youth and ignite their passion for cultural heritage.

This will be followed by the “Mass Choir Singalong” in Pingzhen on the 12th and the “Hakka Rice Dumpling Competition” on the 19th, starting at 9 AM and 8 AM respectively, allowing the public to personally experience the endless charm of Hakka folk songs and cuisine.
