Double Ten National Day: Free entry to the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts & half-price at the Taipei Zoo & Planetarium

Celebrate National Day in Taipei City this holiday season. Educational venues such as the Taipei Zoo, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, the Taipei Planetarium, Shilin Official Residence, and the Children’s Amusement Center will all remain open on National Day. Among them, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts offers free entry all day, while the Taipei Planetarium tickets are available at a 50% discount. The Taipei Zoo, home to the adorable Yuan Zai, also offers special discounted tickets to attract visitors. Since this year’s National Day holiday doesn’t coincide with a long weekend, residents in northern Taiwan can choose to stay in Taipei and celebrate the annual Double Ten Day.

Aside from joining the flag-raising ceremony in front of the Presidential Office Building during the Double Ten National Day, you might also consider visiting various educational venues across Taipei. The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts is currently hosting an “Audiovisual Installation Exhibition” on the first floor, featuring works by 20 artists from the United States, France, Belgium, and other countries. The third floor presents a retrospective exhibition of master photographer Zhang Zhaotang, displaying a collection of 400 photographic works along with 8 documentaries—all free to enter on National Day.

The Taipei Zoo announced that on National Day, entrance fees for both adults and children will be set at NT$30, half the original price. Starting October 8th, the Taipei Planetarium will showcase special exhibitions titled “Measuring the Universe” and “The Same Moonlight—Lunar Viewing for All.” On National Day, the planetarium is offering a 50% discount on tickets, priced at just NT$20.

The Shilin Official Residence is currently hosting a special exhibition titled “The Scholarship of Chiang Kai-shek,” running until March 10th next year.
