When it comes to the hottest photo spots this Christmas, the Tiffany-green light sea corridor in New Taipei’s Happy Christmas Town definitely ranks in the top three, with its galaxy-like illuminated sea drawing crowds of netizens on pilgrimages. But what many might not know is that another incredibly romantic light tunnel has now emerged in Keelung—its fantastical and vibrant colors make it feel like you’ve landed on another planet, earning it the nickname “Keelung’s new landmark”!

Recently, a new photo hotspot has popped up on IG, featuring a background of multicolored lights and twinkling points like a galaxy—dreamy and romantic. This isn’t New Taipei’s Happy Christmas Town, but Keelung’s Christmas decorations. The Keelung City Government held the “True Love Keelung Happy Christmas” event this year, setting up a series of festive lights around the Ocean Plaza, with the shining starlight tunnel becoming the most popular photo spot. Netizens are raving, “It’s so beautiful!”

This year’s “True Love Keelung Happy Christmas” event by the Keelung City Government not only created a Jesus-themed Christmas town at Ocean Plaza but also responded to environmental concerns by using over 7,000 recycled bottles to build Taiwan’s only 17-meter-tall “eco-friendly Christmas tree,” conveying maritime imagery while encouraging eco-consciousness and sharing the meaning behind Christmas.

The “True Love Keelung Happy Christmas” event will run until January 2, 2018, with traditional art lanterns and 3D stereoscopic displays also exhibited on-site. From the 9th to the 23rd, a series of exciting performances will take place, featuring indigenous dance, Hakka cultural art performances, an acoustic music night, magic shows, and puppet theater by the Hope Book Troupe.
