Blue Highway Launches “Bilingual (Chinese-English) Guided Tours”; Cotton Candy & Balloon Flights Added

The “Cotton Candy” and “Shaped Balloon” themed special flights launched by Taipei’s Blue Highway since September have been very well received. The Taipei City Department of Rapid Transit Systems has decided to add more offerings in October, and starting from the 19th, some flights will trial a “Bilingual (Chinese-English) Guided Tour” service, hoping to attract more international tourists to cruise the river and enjoy different views and facets of Taipei.

The Taipei City Department of Labor said that Taipei attracts approximately 6 million international visitors each year for sightseeing. In addition to tourists from mainland China and Hong Kong-Macao, the majority come from English-speaking countries and Japan. To help these visitors better understand Taipei’s urban characteristics and cultural development, while experiencing different scenery in Taipei, bilingual (Chinese-English) guided tour services will be provided starting October 19. Initially, the trial will cover four flights on each of three routes: the “Dadaocheng Heritage Line,” “Dadaocheng Night Cruise,” and “Guandu Premium Cruise.”

In addition to the bilingual (Chinese-English) guided tour service, the Department of Rapid Transit Systems also mentioned that the “Cotton Candy” and “Shaped Balloon” themed special flights launched in September were quite well received. Participants in the themed flights said that the themes enriched onboard activities, making them perfect for family fun. The cotton candy flights are especially popular with children, who often don’t want to get off the boat even after eating their fill. Therefore, the themed flights will continue in October, with ticket prices remaining at NT$290.
