Super Weekend in Kaohsiung on October 12: Three Major Events Including the Big Rainbow Music Festival

This weekend is going to be lively in Kaohsiung. In addition to the countdown for the Rubber Duck, two other major events in the city — the “Big Rainbow Music Festival” and the “Zuoying Eternal Spring Festival” — will also take place simultaneously on the 12th. The Kaohsiung City Government is encouraging the public to use transportation to attend.

The Kaohsiung City Government pointed out that the Rubber Duck has attracted 2.65 million visitors up to National Day, and the exhibition period is now in its final countdown stage. Government Information Office Director Lai Rui-long stated that the city government has designated this week, starting from National Day, as a consecutive holiday period, and all related shuttle bus arrangements have been made. Shuttle bus services will be provided at Exit 1 of the MRT Central Park Station from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. from the 10th to the 13th, with flexible increases in frequency depending on crowd levels. Duck viewers are encouraged to make use of them.

In addition, the rock music extravaganza “Big Rainbow Music Festival” and the historical, cultural, and religious celebration “Zuoying Eternal Spring Festival,” both starting on the 12th, will also see the city government arrange shuttle bus services and traffic controls near the relevant MRT stations.

The Zuoying Eternal Spring Festival, known for highlights such as the “Fire Lion Parade” and the “Beehive Rocket Prayer,” kicked off grandly this year at Lotus Pond. The festival will run for nine days from the 12th to the 20th, and traffic controls will be implemented on surrounding roads including Lianchi Road (from Shengli Road to Kongying Road) and Huanchi Road (from Xinzhuangzi Road to Zhouzi Road). Flexible traffic controls may also be applied to surrounding Shengli Road and Xinzhuangzi Road during the weekend parades. The city government will also provide Red 51 and Red 35 shuttle bus services at the MRT Ecological District Station.

If you want to rock from daytime till midnight, head to the “Big Rainbow Music Festival” at True Love Pier in Kaohsiung this Saturday and Sunday to sing rock anthems to your heart’s content. Multiple well-known artists and rock bands including Sandee Chan, Lo Ta-yu, MP Magic Power, and Hsu Jia-ling will perform over the two days starting at 2 p.m. until the early hours. The Kaohsiung City Government also recommends taking the MRT to Yanchengpu Station and then walking to True Love Pier.
