Sun Moon Lake is absolutely stunning — cyclists from around the world can't stop praising it at Taiwan’s Cycling Festival

The 2013 Taiwan Cycling Festival kicked off on October 10th on the Sun Moon Lake Water Bicycle Trail, attracting over 1,200 cyclists from around the globe. In addition to a visiting group from Ehime, Japan, there were also participants from Australia and Canada. The unanimous sentiment among the riders was, “Sun Moon Lake is incredibly beautiful!” Many even said they’d love to come back every year.

The “Sun Moon Lake Come！Bikeday” cycling event, held on one of the world’s top 10 most beautiful water bicycle trails, drew elite riders from across the globe. Participants included 2012 Vuelta a España King of the Mountains Simon Clarke, 2013 Taiwan King of the Mountain Cycling Challenge winner Wang Yin-zhi, and 2012 Giro d’Italia stage winner Tiffany Cromwell.

The Tourism Bureau noted that the scenic beauty of Sun Moon Lake and its bicycle trails have become a model for tourism promotion in various Asian countries. Last year, a delegation from Ehime Prefecture, Japan, spoke highly of the event, and this year they returned to join the 30-kilometer lake loop challenge for the second time. The bureau pointed out that riders from around the world have left with wonderful memories of Sun Moon Lake, and efforts will continue to integrate scenic destinations with cycling culture, allowing people to enjoy breathtaking views while riding.
