Building Nantou’s New Back Garden: The Sky Bridge to Open for Night Visits in December

Once a renowned attraction in Nantou City, rivaling the Zhushan Sky Ladder, the “Sky Bridge” set a record of attracting over a million visitors within half a year shortly after its opening in 2012. However, due to inadequate surrounding facilities, the initial hype gradually faded. The newly contracted operator, Wei Jing Company, has decided to invest NT$5 million to beautify the Sky Bridge and plans to begin night-time operations in December.

On the 12th, Wei Jing Company General Manager Lin [Name Redacted] visited Nantou Mayor Hsu Shu-hua to outline his management vision, which includes beautifying the Houshenjing Recreation Area and the Sky Bridge. According to Lin’s plan, the LED lights on the Sky Bridge will be replaced with colorful lighting, transforming the suspension bridge into a “colorful butterfly” shape. Additionally, a simple coffee break area will be set up around the park where visitors can dine and rest. The Houshenjing area will also undergo night-time scenic enhancements, including the installation of fringe awnings along the entire Houshenjing Street to provide shade, building an archway to guide visitors to the Sky Bridge for consumption. The goal is to establish the Sky Bridge as Nantou City’s new back garden, with night-time operations scheduled to begin in early December.
