The Su-Hua Highway has been closed due to landslides. The “Lina Ferry” adds an extra voyage on the 31st between Su’ao and Hualien to help with evacuation.

The closure of the Su-Hua Highway has left many travelers stranded in eastern Taiwan. Today, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Maritime and Port Bureau arranged for the “Lina Ferry” and the “Hefu Express Ferry” to operate a total of four round-trip voyages between Hualien and Su’ao. All available spots were quickly filled due to high demand, and just now, an additional voyage on the 31st between Su’ao and Hualien has been announced.

The Su-Hua Highway is expected to temporarily reopen for one-way, two-lane traffic between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM tomorrow (31st). In response, the Maritime and Port Bureau has specially coordinatedthe “Lina Ferry” to add an extra voyage departing Su’ao Port at 8:30 AM tomorrow (31st) bound for Hualien Port (tickets will go on sale on-site starting at 7:00 AM), followed by another sailing from Hualien Port to Su’ao Port at 12:00 PM noon (tickets on sale on-site starting at 8:30 AM).This is to assist those stranded in Su’ao and Hualien to return home smoothly.

The Maritime and Port Bureau operated three voyages from Hualien to Su’ao and one voyage from Su’ao to Hualien today (30th). According to statistics, the Lina Ferry’s 12:00 PM voyage from Hualien to Su’ao today transported 496 passengers, 111 vehicles, 11 tour buses, 1 truck, and 13 motorcycles, while the 3:00 PM voyage from Su’ao to Hualien transported 61 passengers and 21 vehicles, effectively helping people return home.

The Lina Ferry takes approximately 90 minutes to sail between Hualien Port and Su’ao Port. The fare is NT$700 for adults in economy class, NT$500 for children aged 2 to under 12, and NT$100 for infants under 2 years old. The fare is NT$1,500 per passenger car, NT$2,500 per tour bus or truck, NT$300 per motorcycle, and NT$500 per heavy motorcycle.
