Taiwan Gourmet Food Expo Opens on July 21 with Bai Jiaqi as Spokesperson

The 2017 Taiwan Gourmet Food Expo will be held for four consecutive days starting July 21 at Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center. This year’s expo has invited local TV drama goddess Bai Jiaqi to serve as its spokesperson. Before the event, she will sample various cuisines to get an early taste of the expo’s theme “Colorful Food Era” and its rich offerings. On the opening day, July 21, she will also personally visit the expo, explore its various themed pavilions with fans, and experience a grand feast that combines taste, sight, and cultural aesthetics.

Do you usually have time [to cook]? Bai Jiaqi said that due to her busy work schedule, when she does cook, she prepares simple and healthy meals such as salads, stir-fried vegetables, or pan-seared steak. Occasionally, she makes chicken soup to nourish herself. At home, she also makes dumplings and wontons with her mother. She enjoys many Taiwanese dishes, such as beef with scallions, three-cup chicken, pineapple shrimp balls, salted egg bitter melon, and steamed stinky tofu. Since Taipei offers easy access to a variety of international cuisines, she is also keen on trying different types, with Japanese cuisine and refreshing seafood dishes being her favorites.

The 2017 Taiwan Gourmet Food Expo is a grand-scale event, featuring six major exhibition zones: “Art of Food,” “Utensils of Food,” “Ingredients of Food,” “Journeys of Food,” “Companions of Food,” and “Education of Food.” Each zone has its own unique design. The expo also invites world-renowned chefs to showcase their culinary skills, while the “Culinary Competition” sees top cooks competing against each other. With such a rich array of content, visitors can easily spend a whole day there, immersing themselves in the vibrant food culture and the colorful power of gourmet delights.
