So excited — Japan to build a “Studio Ghibli Theme Park” recreating the world of *My Neighbor Totoro*

Fans of Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films are in for a treat — following the opening of the LEGOLAND Japan theme park in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture has just announced plans to build a “Studio Ghibli Theme Park,” scheduled to open in early 2020.

According to Japanese media reports, Aichi Prefecture will develop the “Studio Ghibli Theme Park” on approximately 200 hectares of land near the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park in Nagakute City. The park is expected to recreate the forest world of *My Neighbor Totoro*, allowing visitors to actually step into scenes from the movie, as well as settings from *Spirited Away*. Fans are eagerly anticipating these attractions.

Currently, the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park already features a 100% accurately reproduced “Kusakabe Family House (Home of Satsuki and Mei),” a pilgrimage site for *Totoro* fans. Every detail of the home's interior spaces is faithfully recreated from the animated film. Once the Studio Ghibli Theme Park officially opens, this expansive park is set to become the newest must-visit destination for Ghibli enthusiasts.
