What a unique way to ring in the New Year—listening to the sound of ocean waves at night and greeting the first light of 2014 with a view of Guishan Island!

Carrying memories of 2013 into 2014, symbolizing “love you for a lifetime,” the most captivating sight in Yilan’s Toucheng—Evergreen Marine Hot Spring Hotel’s “Guishan Morning Sun”—was an absolute must-see. As the top of the Eight Scenic Spots of Lanyang, the Guishan Morning Sun had travelers from all over Taiwan eagerly anticipating it. After more than ten consecutive days of cloudy and rainy weather, the skies in Yilan finally cleared today (1st).Around 6:15 AM, the first light of dawn peeked out faintly from behind the clouds over Guishan Island. By around 7:00 AM, the sun rose through the clouds, with its deep orange hues appearing intermittently, sometimes shyly hidden, drawing constant admiration from the visitors. By approximately 7:15 AM, the sun finally emerged fully from the clouds to greet everyone, ushering in the new year of 2014.Ms. Li, a visitor from Taichung, said, “In previous years, we missed seeing the sunrise due to weather conditions. This year, the weather was great. Even though we didn’t see the full sun the whole time, we still feel very lucky!”

When visiting the Evergreen Marine Hot Spring Hotel, don’t miss a stroll through the nearby Beiguan Tidal Park. Accompanied by the morning sun of 2014, guests wandered along the park’s rocky trails, admiring rock formations that resemble cats lying on the coast and tofu rocks, taking in panoramic views of Guishan Island and the mountain landscape from the highest points, walking through the “One Line Sky” crevice, and greeting the new year with the serene seascape of Guishan Island.

Evergreen Marine Hot Spring also held New Year’s and sunrise events last year. Different from the usual noisy celebrations, this quieter style was favored by some guests. With the beautiful Guishan Morning Sun and the hotel’s thoughtful planning,Cai Zhongzhe, the director of marketing and public relations, stated that the hotel had an occupancy rate of over 80% on New Year’s Eve this year. In mid-January, the hotel will also unveil newly expanded room types. Guests will be able to enjoy the unique “Golden Spring” iron-rich hot spring directly in their rooms, as well as ocean-view rooms called “Heart of the Ocean,” allowing them to “open their eyes to the seascape of Guishan Island.”
