The operator of Fish Tank Café, Yu Chengjun, has previously worked in culinary teams at restaurants such as Fleur de Lys and Les Suites Hotel, and won the Gold Award in the Chocolate category at the 2012 FHA Singapore International Culinary Competition. We’re thrilled to have such a talented individual join the ranks of our artisan coffee shops. Not long ago, this gold medal pastry chef, Yu Chengjun, opened his own self-roasting café in Luzhou District, New Taipei City.

Coffish cleverly combines the English words "Coffee" and "Fish." This café is the product of the efforts of the Yu siblings. The interior design was handled by the sister, while the coffee and pastries are the work of Yu Chengjun and his brother. Before opening, he put in a lot of effort practicing pour-over brewing and refining the flavor profiles of the roasted beans.

Sorry folks, I have to use several photos to introduce this berry cheesecake—it’s the best dessert I’ve had this year. Both its appearance and flavor are truly moving.

First, here’s a top-down view. Owner Yu used a long chocolate slice with a “skylight” as the roof, giving customers the delightful surprise of unwrapping a gift as they enjoy this dessert.

Oh my oh my!! How can anyone bring themselves to dig into this adorable little potted plant? It looks like bright red berry bushes growing in a pure white snowfield. The clever use of physalis, green macarons, and mint leaves makes the whole cup burst with life, as if spring is about to arrive after the melting snow.

The best part is the bottom layer of white cheese—it has the unique aroma of vanilla bean, simple yet rich. I sincerely recommend this mixed berry cheesecake to everyone—enjoy.

Oops, I forgot to take a photo of the pour-over equipment here, haha. Let me borrow a few shots from the cream puffs instead. At Fish Tank Café, coffee enthusiasts are served by professional pour-over kettles such as Kalita, Tsuki no Usagi, Takahiro, and Yukiwa.

The KONO filter set is paired with Fuji Cafe machines and grinders such as Kalita, Bonmac. Yu says these are the basic essentials to meet various needs. The care and thought he puts into practicing pour-over techniques and refining flavors far exceed what we imagined.

Currently, all the coffee beans used at Fish Tank Café are self-roasted. The light-roast single-origin beans, with their rich sweet-and-sour aroma, have received high praise. They include micro-lot beans from Panama’s BOP auction and Ninety Plus, making this café in Luzhou a truly sincere offering.

Served in glass pots on bamboo trays alongside ceramic cups, that drink next to it isn’t just ordinary iced water—it’s refreshing sparkling water. Take a sip before enjoying your coffee to cleanse your palate of any lingering dessert flavors, making the coffee’s taste even more pronounced.

Find some time to visit Fish Tank Café and try the desserts made by this gold medal pastry chef. I believe that with such approachable prices and exquisitely delicate plating, it will soon become one of the most popular queue-worthy spots in Luzhou. Eat now while you can—come on, come on.
