Travel Center / Comprehensive Report
Since its official naming in December 2013, Kaohsiung’s public bicycle system “CityBike” has developed a total of 600 kilometers of bike lanes. In addition to continuously improving facilities along the cycling network, the Kaohsiung City Government’s Public Works Bureau has now launched the “Kaohsiung Bike Map” APP. Not only can users check the availability of bikes at each rental station, but the app also offers eight recommended routes, allowing cyclists to easily enjoy a one-day trip around Kaohsiung by bike.
Different travel methods offer unique perspectives. To allow cyclists to experience the diverse landscapes of Kaohsiung—including its mountains, rivers, harbors, fields, and urban scenes—the bureau has planned eight types of cycling routes: “Harbor Type,” “Mountain and Forest Type,” “River and Lake Type,” “Field Type,” “Urban Commuting Type,” “Special Scenic Type,” “Sports Challenge Type,” and “Rural Community Type.” A total of 600 kilometers of these routes have been established so far, with plans to expand to over 700 kilometers by the end of the year.

The Public Works Bureau recently launchedthe new “Kaohsiung Bike Map” APP,which offers a range of real-time services. In addition to providing real-time updates on bike availability and dock space at rental stations, the APP also includes 11 recommended cycling routes for specific attractions such as the West Harbor Bike Path, Love River Bike Path, Cijin Island Loop Bike Path, and Jincheng Twin Lakes Bike Route. These help cyclists choose their travel destinations and offer GPS navigation guidance.
