Fun Travel During Chinese New Year: The “Castle Flower Sea” at Dajia Riverside Park Is Breathtaking

Have you decided where to go during the Chinese New Year holiday? Taipei’s Dajia Riverside Park has themed its area as a “fairy tale wonderland,” using plants such as sage, lavender, lilyturf, and freesia to create adorable designs of castles and butterflies. The entire flower sea spans an impressive 9,000 square meters and will be on display from the Chinese New Year period all the way to the end of April—those who want to see this beautiful floral spectacle should hurry over!

The Taipei City Government Department of Public Works’ Bureau of Water Resources stated that four themed riverside parks have already been completed, including the Dajia Parent-Child Water Theme Riverside Park, the Chengmei Left-Right Banks Love Theme Riverside Park, the Shizidao Ecological Wetland, and the Guandu Waterfront to Dadaocheng Cultural-Historical Theme Park. The public can choose suitable themes based on their interests to enjoy the scenery.

At the same time, the Bureau of Water Resources has created a vast flower sea landscape in Dajia Riverside Park. This year, it continues to use the charming castle motif along with floral and butterfly patterns as part of the land art flower sea. The aim is to attract visitors to come and enjoy the view. The flowering plants used include four-season begonias, salvia splendens, sage, and lavender, while ground cover plants feature small irises, lilyturf, and freesia. The overall Dajia flower sea landscape covers approximately 9,000 square meters, with the best viewing period lasting until the end of April this year. The optimal viewing time is expected to be from the Chinese New Year holiday through the Lantern Festival.

The Bureau of Water Resources noted that besides the expansive and beautiful flower sea, Dajia Riverside Park also features a newly unveiled 3D panda mural, which was painted by the renowned domestic 3D art artist Teacher Su Jiaxian. It is located near Gate 8 of the Dajia Flower Sea. In addition, there is also a rare four-wheeled vehicle offering, which is a unique service at Dajia Riverside Park. Everyone is welcome to come and experience the “fun of travel”!

The Taipei City Riverside Bicycle Rental Stations will continue service during the Lunar New Year holiday, though hours will be slightly adjusted. On New Year’s Eve (January 30) and Lunar New Year’s Day (January 31), operating hours will be from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (no lunch break). From February 1 to February 4, the hours will be 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with rentals available until 8:00 PM. Holiday rates will apply throughout the break.
