The Wind Lion King Shopping Street and Kinmen Film City Open to Attract Visitors from Both Sides of the Strait

The Golden Lion Cinema in the "Wind Lion King Shopping Street" developed by TaiKai in Kinmen will open tomorrow (the 23rd), featuring cutting-edge cinematic technologies and equipment such as globally synchronized 3D digital projection and 4D motion seats, attracting audiences from both sides of the Taiwan Strait and locals in Kinmen.

The Golden Lion Cinema has six screening rooms, including one with 462 seats equipped with globally synchronized 3D digital projection and 4D motion seats; a VIP cinema with 54 adjustable seats; and four other theaters, each seating 94 people. Ticket prices at the cinema vary from NT$140, NT$370 to NT$430 depending on film length and the projection technology used. TaiKai held a press preview today, inviting media and travel agency representatives from Taiwan, Kinmen, and Fujian Province in mainland China. TaiKai Chairman Qiu Fusheng, Dolby Laboratories Taiwan, the UK-based ARUP architecture team, and Japan’s Pinhole interior design team explained the vision and new technologies behind the cinema. Magistrate Lee Wo-shih also attended the event.

Qiu Fusheng pointed out that the Golden Lion Cinema's equipment is not like TV or video — it is fully synchronized with global cinematic technology. To keep up with the world, Kinmen must adopt world-class technology. The company has partnered with domestic architecture and audiovisual firms to bring in international standards. The height, length, and seat angles of each theater have been optimized for the best movie-watching experience. He stated that the company is committed to creating a cinema in Kinmen that matches the standards of those in the UK and US, and will continue to upgrade and update the cinema’s equipment to stay aligned with global trends. Regarding the upcoming opening of the TaiKai “Wind Lion King Shopping Street,” Qiu mentioned that it will introduce premium international and duty-free brands, becoming a hub for both wholesale and retail, as well as online sales. This will offer consumers a completely new shopping experience, distinct from the general merchandise found in Kinmen’s larger retail outlets.

Kinmen once had 17 cinemas, but they gradually declined with the rise of DVDs and online movies, with all of them shutting down more than six years ago. Magistrate Lee Wo-shih expressed gratitude to the TaiKai team for bringing back the best cinema experience, fulfilling the expectations of Kinmen residents, and acknowledged Qiu Fusheng’s dedication and investment in Kinmen projects. He noted that Kinmen now offers one of the best cinematic environments across the Taiwan Strait and welcomes friends from both sides to come watch movies together in Kinmen. In the future, Kinmen aims to be a fashionable destination, with international luxury and duty-free goods also coming soon. Dr. George Lin, Director of Dolby Laboratories Taiwan, emphasized that the cinema is outfitted with Dolby Atmos “immersive sound” systems and FAS dynamic seats, providing audiences with multi-layered and enveloping audio experiences. The cinema will also feature a “diverse gourmet food court,” offering local dishes that combine Kinmen Kaoliang liquor-marinated ingredients with the crisp texture of fresh vegetables and fruits, adding a creative East-meets-West twist to local cuisine.
