Capitalizing on the tourism business opportunity of 4,000 Olympic visitors to Tokyo, Nakano Masazumi, president of Japan’s renowned hotel management group Core Global Management Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as CGM), personally led a team to promote the group’s 11 hotels in Taiwan. Nakano stated that by combining hotel designs that integrate surrounding landscapes and local characteristics, along with offerings such as cuisine representing Japanese flavors, he hopes to provide Taiwanese travelers with high-quality service.
Japan’s CGM Co., Ltd. is a professional hotel management group that operates and manages hotels through partnerships with investment institutions from around the world and Japan. Starting with its first hotel, “Narita GATEWAY Hotel,” near Narita Airport in 2013, and spanning from Hokkaido to Sasebo in Kyushu, the group currently operates 11 mid- to large-sized hotels. It plans to expand to multiple new locations including Kyoto, Tokyo’s Ginza, and Fukuoka’s Hakata from 2018..
“Taiwan has a population of about 23 million, but in 2016 alone, over 4 million people traveled to Japan,” said Nakano Masazumi. Taiwan has always been an important source of guests for the group’s hotels. Currently, foreign guests account for about 20% to 30% of total guests, with 80% of them being from Taiwan. Therefore, the group places great importance on the Taiwan market and hopes to increase its visibility in Taiwan through this promotional visit.

Regarding accommodation features, Nakano explained that the group’s hotel rooms generally start at 20 square meters. Typically, in Japan, larger rooms come with higher prices, but CGM’s hotels offer spacious rooms at reasonable and affordable rates, making them more accessible to travelers. “To ensure quality, the average cost to build a single guest room is 10 million yen (approximately NT$2.7 million). We aim to provide guests with a high-quality accommodation experience through our hardware.”

In addition, being able to enjoy the local scenery without leaving your room is another hallmark of CGM. For example, the group’s “Karuizawa Club Hotel Karuizawa 1130” in Nagano Prefecture incorporates local hot springs into the rooms and features open-air baths, allowing guests to enjoy the pleasure of soaking in a hot spring while being embraced by Karuizawa’s beautiful natural surroundings. Additionally, stepping out onto the room’s terrace offers a view of the Karuizawa landscape.
In terms of hotel dining, in addition to offering staple Japanese dishes such as sushi and tempura, seasonal ingredients are also used to prepare special dishes according to the time of year, allowing guests to savor Japan’s seasonal delicacies.
