As temperatures soar across Taiwan in the peak of summer this June, are you looking to cool off? The fountain facilities at New Taipei City Hall Plaza have reopened, and the “Summer Water Fun – Kids’ Joyful Splash” event will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on the 24th (tomorrow). The Butterfly Shadow Dance Troupe and the Fun Theater Troupe will deliver exciting performances, turning the plaza into a “summer water park” for children — making it a perfect destination for families to enjoy water activities and beat the heat.

Mayor Lin Chih-chien stated that during the summer, the fountain at City Hall Plaza has become a popular spot for families to enjoy time together. Since 2015, the city government has promoted an urban aesthetics and child-friendly environment initiative, renovating and reopening the plaza’s fountain. The water quality is sterilized and disinfected to meet swimming pool-grade hygiene standards, and the water is recycled to avoid waste, ensuring both children and adults can safely enjoy the fun of playing in the water.

In 2017, the plaza’s fountains will be turned on daily from Monday to Friday, with 15-minute sessions at 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM, plus an additional two-hour continuous session at 5:00 PM. On Saturdays and Sundays, the fountains will run continuously for five hours from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, giving residents plenty of time to enjoy. Additionally, the first-floor service center of the city government is equipped with changing rooms and provides paper towels, hairdryers, combs, drinking water, and other amenities for those using the water play area.
