Did the Eiffel Tower become a container for desserts?

Anyone who loves desserts and afternoon tea knows that there are countless dessert and tea shops in the Taichung area. It seems like new ones are opening up every so often. The "De Rêve Boutique Café" (德尔芙精品咖啡de rêve café), which is surprisingly large in scale, was introduced to me by a friend. At the time, it had only been open for a little over three months. I originally thought it would be just another cute little shop (because of the name!), but when I walked up to the entrance, wow—a full wall of floor-to-ceiling glass windows, bright and airy space, and distinct seating areas. You can choose between high stools or cozy individual sofas. The silver-white color scheme paired with black accents gives the place a very fashionable vibe. Later, I learned that the investors also have a stake in a fashion magazine, which made perfect sense.

But the most eye-catching thing here isn’t the ambiance—it’s the miniature Eiffel Towers. I initially thought they were just decorations (since the logo is an Eiffel Tower), but then I found out they’re specially custom-made afternoon tea containers. So when you order the couple’s afternoon tea set, it actually arrives on a tiny Eiffel Tower—truly a showstopper.

Behind a long glass cake display case are the pastry chefs decorating cakes on-site. They look very focused, adorning each small dessert with fresh fruits to create vibrant and tempting presentations. I heard the types of desserts rotate periodically in terms of both content and flavors. Aside from the couple’s afternoon tea set, you can also order items à la carte. But for first-timers, you absolutely must have an Eiffel Tower on your table—it’s a must for the full experience, Up!

Honestly, the desserts at De Rêve aren’t particularly outstanding, but I think the highlight here is the comfortable space and friendly service (the staff are almost all young and handsome—were they handpicked? Hehe~). The overall atmosphere for afternoon tea is fantastic, and you can really feel the care the owners put into running this place. Maybe it’s still adjusting its direction since it’s been open for only a short while. I hope next time I visit, the desserts will be even better.

The Eiffel Tower afternoon tea set includes drinks for two, plus a selection of desserts and macarons of your choice. Honestly, just looking at it is enough to melt any girl’s heart. The set costs 599 TWD, which is honestly such a great deal.

The latte has very fine milk foam and a beautiful latte art. It’s served in a double-walled insulated glass, which is a nice touch.

The chocolate cake, similar to an opera cake, has a rich chocolate flavor, though it lacks a bit in layering.

The fruit éclair has good fillings of fruit and chocolate custard, but the pastry shell could use some improvement.

Another à la carte item, the truffle mushroom thin-crust pizza, is apparently very popular here. The crispy, flaky crust is filled with sautéed mushrooms and cheese, then drizzled with concentrated balsamic vinegar—it’s refreshing and quite tasty, no wonder it’s a hit.

The blueberry tart—can you tell how fresh the fruit is? While it’s not exactly a jaw-dropping creation, the overall flavor is solid and well-balanced.

The orange caramel crème brûlée shows the chef put some thought into it, using real vanilla seeds. But if the texture were smoother, it’d be even better, Up!

Related reports—turns out they also serve pasta and honey toast here. I’ll have to come back to try those.

The dessert display case and open kitchen are combined, creating a bright and airy space. The extensive use of marble highlights the quality.

The black-and-white high stool seating area.

The Eiffel Tower, 100% attention-grabbing.

The entrance is very spacious.

They also offer hand-brewed Zhanlu coffee with tableside service.
