Sunset Glow at Xiyu Island & the Romantic Lighting of Taiwan’s Oldest Lighthouse

In conjunction with the Tourism Bureau’s “Summer Solstice 235” event, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration held a lighthouse lighting concert on the evening of the 21st at Taiwan’s oldest lighthouse — Xiyu Fishing Village Island Lighthouse. Thanks to clear weather and the accompaniment of one of Penghu’s Eight Scenic Spots, the “Xiyu Sunset Glow,” the scene was both romantic and moving.

The Penghu Administration stated that this event was presented as a “romantic and low-carbon” grassland concert, aligning with the Tourism Bureau’s promotion of lighthouse tourism and the Central Weather Bureau’s lighthouse lighting at 6:50 PM. As the foghorn and trumpet sounds intertwined, the Xiyu Fishing Village Island Lighthouse began its nightly task of illuminating the sea for fishing vessels.

Mr. Ma Yang-Wei, along with teachers Chen Xi-Ren and Liu Jian-Hong, performed live music on a tripod piano and saxophone-trumpet pieces, captivating the audience under the starry sky. The Penghu Administration also expressed hope that visitors to Penghu could deeply experience the unique qualities of summer travel — “coolness, tranquility, romance, and energy-saving” in a green tourism environment.
