With temperatures soaring, the newly opened Yilan International Children's Folk Games Festival has quickly become a summer cooling-off destination. Early in the morning, visitors flocked to the festival grounds, packing the water play facilities such as the White Wave Surge, Winged Water Slide, Checkerboard Water Stage, and Inverted Water Maze. Many joined in water fights, enjoying the refreshing thrill of cooling off. Visitors said splashing around in the park on a hot day was incredibly satisfying, with some exclaiming, “It’s just too hot — you can’t help but want to get in the water!”

Hotel operators have also spotted this wave of heat-escaping crowds and launched cool, healing activities to compete with the festival’s appeal. Jiang Huiming, General Manager of Dongsen Marine Hot Spring Hotel in Toucheng, Yilan, said that this summer’s “Marine Children's Folk Games Festival” cooling event allows guests to participate in water gun battles and water balloon games on-site. Beyond just water play, there are also competitions involving volleyball, soccer, and handball. Without the need to battle the crowds at the festival, guests can still enjoy the invigorating chill of icy water during the scorching summer, refreshing both body and mind.

In addition to daytime cooling activities, the hotel also hosts a nightly highlight event. Whether it’s nostalgic bamboo pole dancing or limbo dancing, or thrilling beer competitions, every Saturday also features performances by renowned fire dance troupes, ensuring that both adults and children have a fun, healing holiday experience.
