Travelers to Japan, beware of Typhoon Neoguri expected to make landfall on Kyushu on the 10th

Typhoon Neoguri, a strong typhoon, weakened to a medium typhoon this afternoon (July 8). According to the Central Weather Bureau, the storm’s range is expected to approach the Kyushu area of Japan by tomorrow night and is predicted to make landfall in Japan between the early morning and noon of the 10th.

The Central Weather Bureau stated that at 14:00, Neoguri was located approximately 450 kilometers northeast of Taipei, moving north then northeast, and is forecast to veer east toward Japan at around 30 degrees north latitude.

Since Neoguri’s path will first pass through Okinawa Prefecture, Japan’s Meteorological Agency issued a special alert for stormy weather and high waves in Miyako Island, Okinawa, starting from the evening of the 7th. Airports, military aircraft, and ports have also taken precautionary measures in advance to prevent further disaster.

After affecting the Kyushu area on the 9th, Neoguri may continue moving toward the Japanese capital region. Therefore, travelers planning to visit Japan before the 10th should pay special attention to the weather and flight conditions.
