Competing with the Gongliao Ocean Music Festival, the Dongshi Sea Summer Festival electrifies southern Taiwan

As one of Taiwan’s three major ocean music events and the largest coastal music festival in western Taiwan, the Dongshi Fisherman’s Wharf Sea Summer Festival will kick off its 16-day run on July 12 and continue through July 27. In addition to grand concerts, the festival offers a variety of summer activities including an amusement park, a balloon-themed pavilion, creative street parades, and high-altitude fireworks music shows.

This year’s Sea Summer Festival is themed “Love FUN Chiayi,” featuring six major concerts over six consecutive weekends, inviting more than 30 well-known domestic idol singers and independent bands such as Lu Guangzhong, Yu Sheng, Alien Huang, MP Magic Power, Angela Chang, Show Lo, Jia Jia, Fire EX., and Cheng Hung-pin to take the stage. Chiayi County Magistrate Chang Hua-kuan, dressed as the love goddess Venus, specially invites people from across the country to visit Dongshi Fisherman’s Wharf in Chiayi to experience 16 days of exciting activities.

The Dongshi Fisherman’s Wharf Sea Summer Festival also features a playground designed specifically for children, using new mechanical rides and large inflatable play equipment to create an unforgettable summer for kids. During the event, local Chiayi County specialty food and snack vendors will gather at Dongshi Fisherman’s Wharf to offer local delicacies and souvenirs. Tourist boat operators on the popular offshore route to Waishanding Islet will also increase service frequency, allowing visitors to take boat rides to view local oyster farms and explore this soon-to-disappear, largest sandbar in Taiwan.
