Tigerair Taiwan’s first destination: Macau or Singapore to be chosen

Which city will Tigerair Taiwan, the low-cost carrier under China Airlines, choose for its maiden flight has always been a question of interest among travelers. It is understood that the airline’s air rights application has entered the final stage, and one of the two locations—Singapore or Macau—will be selected as the first destination.

Luo Haoming, head of China Airlines’ Taiwan region and general manager of its Taipei branch, said that Tigerair Taiwan has narrowed down its first destination to either Macau or Singapore, with the air rights still under application. If flights to Macau are successfully launched, they will complement China Airlines’ existing Hong Kong routes. Meanwhile, Singapore, being the base of Tigerair, also stands a chance of becoming the first destination due to operational experience advantages. Zhang Qiuhua, a researcher at Tigerair Taiwan’s preparatory office, stated that the air rights are currently under review by the Legislative Yuan, and the first destination will be officially announced in August.
