Phoenix Disrupts Plans – New Taipei City Kite Festival Postponed to September 27

The New Taipei City Government announced that due to the approach of Typhoon In-Fa, the originally scheduled New Taipei City North Coast International Kite Festival on September 20 and 21 has been postponed by one week to September 27 and 28.

Since 2000, the International Kite Festival held continuously for 14 years in Shimen has created a platform for domestic and international kite culture, skill observation, exchange, and competition. It has inspired the creativity and talent of local kite enthusiasts and has become one of Asia’s major kite events alongside the Johor Kite Festival in Malaysia and the Weifang Kite Festival in Shandong.

The 2014 New Taipei City North Coast International Kite Festival has invited nearly 150 domestic and international kite masters this year. The event also features a kite wedding, night-light kite performances, as well as kite DIY workshops, lectures, and craft exhibitions. Although the event has been postponed by a week, the program remains unchanged, aiming to offer the public a vibrant kite carnival.
