The dengue fever outbreak in Tokyo, Japan, continues to escalate. After mosquitoes captured in Yoyogi Park tested positive for the dengue virus, a 20-year-old woman was bitten by a mosquito in Ueno Park and developed symptoms on the 13th. On the 19th, relevant authorities conducted mosquito eradication operations in the park.

Dengue fever, which had been eradicated in Japan for 70 years, has recently made a comeback. As of the 18th, 133 people have been confirmed infected. On the 4th, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government held an emergency press conference announcing that mosquitoes captured in Yoyogi Park had tested positive for the dengue virus. The park was subsequently closed and disinfected.

Following Yoyogi Park, Ueno Park also appears to be affected by the dengue outbreak. Travelers visiting Japan should exercise extra caution, avoid these areas, and carry insect repellent and lightweight long-sleeved clothing to reduce the risk of mosquito bites.
