Iya, located near Houpi Lake, not only has a large villa but also several campervans imported from the U.S. This time, to give Mr. Nick a more diverse experience, we chose the campervan. Boge has been camping since childhood with his dad, so camping itself isn’t new to me—but this was my first time in a campervan.

Campervans have long been popular overseas, and the concept of carrying your home with you adds more freedom and fun to travel.

The villa part is very high-end and comfortable. When we arrived that evening, there were many families having barbecues here. That’s when we learned that Iya also offers a food-ordering service—you need to book in advance to enjoy delicious seafood up^

The site is very spacious, and each campervan has its own dedicated space and lounge chairs. It feels really fun if several families come to stay in campervans together. Barbecue lovers, don’t worry—there are also grilling facilities outside the campervans. Boge didn’t find out until the next morning... ((so sad..

Also, staying at Iya means you can watch the sunrise too. The morning air is especially fresh. Hearing Director Ye talk about how beautiful the sunrise here is, Boge and Mr. Nick got up early just to not miss such a view. Unfortunately, there were more clouds than we hoped that morning, but climbing up to the second floor of the villa and looking over the entire site—with the slowly rising sun as the backdrop—still made for an incredibly beautiful scene.

Walking further down to explore the site, we discovered a campervan that looked quite different from the others. After asking around, we found out it’s actually the one the boss lives in.

Next, let me introduce our home!! This time we stayed in Room 312, which is closer to the villa.

As soon as we opened the door, we saw our living room and kitchen—fully equipped, with a sound system and TV.

For safety reasons, the stove area in the kitchen isn’t open for use, but seeing all this equipment, you can imagine how convenient and fun it would be to actually travel in a campervan.

The room isn’t very big, but for a camping-style trip, it’s already extremely luxurious and comfortable. It’s way better than sleeping on a mat laid out on the grass!!

The bed is super comfy and soft—you can sleep soundly till dawn.

The bathroom facilities are also complete, and the iron-gray fixtures add an adventurous touch to the camping vibe.

Breakfast is served from 8–10 a.m. the next morning in the villa. Every time I see this space, it reminds me of the night we checked in—the tables and chairs were all pushed together into one long table, covered with all kinds of dishes, and dozens of people were happily eating and chatting. I asked in surprise, “Are these all Iya staff?” Director Ye said, “These are interns who came to Iya for the summer holiday—the dishes on the table were all made by them.” After picking up the room key and looking back, that joyful scene was forever etched in my memory.

Director Ye is generous and kind, mingling with all the interns as if they’re all one big family. That’s the feeling Iya gives me—relaxed, carefree, and very warm and welcoming.

Breakfast is self-serve, with both Western and Chinese options. I really loved their milk tea (so good, so good!). Boge always looks forward to breakfast the most when staying at homestays. Anytime there’s a Chinese breakfast, I’m over the moon—a bowl of congee with a few side dishes, a classic breakfast full of that satisfying feeling that southerners love^^

At Iya, I left with a special and beautiful memory. My first campervan experience made me want to share this still-not-so-common travel style in Taiwan with everyone. Having traveled a bit and stayed at various homestays, I sometimes deeply feel that while hardware is important, even if a room is well-equipped and the environment is beautiful, if interactions with people feel routine, the overall impression doesn’t leave much of an impact.

But at Iya, not only is the environment and equipment great, the interaction with guests is also natural and warm, just like their relationship with the interns—it gives you a sense of belonging and greatly boosts your fondness for the place. If you get the chance, come experience a different kind of accommodation at Iya. I believe you’ll have a wonderful and unique memory here, just like I did.
