The Maple Trees on the Central Cross-Island Highway Are Turning Red – Experience Ecology and Canyon Scenery in Taroko National Park

The event includes the pioneering history of the Central Cross-Island Highway, experiencing the red maple leaves, ecological observation of the mid-elevation cloud forest belt, and canyon landscapes, all led and explained by Taroko National Park guides throughout.

Jointly organized by Taroko National Park and Tianxiang Youth Activity Center‘Central Cross-Island Highway Maple Leaves Experience Event’will be held on December 6–7, 2014 (Saturday–Sunday). The event includes the pioneering history of the Central Cross-Island Highway, experiencing the red maple leaves, ecological observation of the mid-elevation cloud forest belt, and canyon landscapes, all led and explained by Taroko National Park guides throughout.

Registration is now open until October 22. The fee is NT$2,500 per participant (including transportation, accommodation, and insurance), with a limit of 36 participants. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Central Cross-Island Highway was opened on May 9, 1960, and has now been around for over half a century. As the most important scenic road leading visitors into Taroko, its unique sights attract a continuous stream of both domestic and international tourists. In autumn, the mid-to-high elevation areas are ablaze with vibrant and colorful foliage.

For event registration, please download the application form from the official website of Taroko National Park at http://www.taroko.gov.tw/, fill it out, and then fax or mail it to the email address tsyac@cyc.tw. Alternatively, you can fax it to Tianxiang Youth Activity Center at 03-8691171, or call them at 03-8691111 for inquiries.
