Two more electric boats added to Sun Moon Lake — "Naluwan" lets you fish by lifting the floor

Two more electric boats that take visitors on scenic tours of Sun Moon Lake have been added to the fleet. The brand-new vessels, named "Naluwan" and "Star of Hope," were launched on the 14th and 15th. The operator of Naluwan, Sun Moon Lake Leisure and Recreation Co., Ltd., stated that the boat features a recreational fishing window, allowing passengers to fish directly from the sofa inside the cabin.

The operator noted that the Naluwan is a catamaran-style vessel built at a cost of over 20 million New Taiwan Dollars. In addition to audiovisual sound systems and cooking appliances, it also comes with a refrigerator, and, for the first time, includes power outlets for mobile devices—perfect for tech-savvy travelers who need to keep their phones charged while out.

Another highlight of the Naluwan is its transparent glass window beneath the cabin floor. By simply lifting the floor panel and opening the small glass window, anyone with a fishing rod can comfortably sit on the sofa and enjoy the pleasure of fishing.

The other newly launched vessel, the Star of Hope, is being marketed as a "floating café." According to the boat’s owner, Huang Sheng-hui, the Star of Hope can accommodate up to 85 passengers and offers a variety of beverages onboard, creating the atmosphere of a café on the water. Particular attention was paid to indoor natural ventilation and air circulation during the design of the Star of Hope, so passengers can enjoy a ride without the strong smell of diesel exhaust—a feature expected to significantly boost passenger interest.

In the future, the electric boats will operate under a leisure-oriented business model and will offer special themed charters, such as birthday parties, corporate gatherings, and wedding photography sessions.
