The whole city is my power bank – Kaohsiung installs phone charging stations at 14 bus stops

With smartphones becoming increasingly popular, the Kaohsiung City Government’s Department of Transportation has installed 14 free USB phone charging devices at selected transit hubs and bus stops, allowing commuters to charge their phones while waiting.

As bus ridership in Kaohsiung continues to grow and the new era of communication unfolds, the Department of Transportation has stepped up its efforts to improve bus stop services. Following the launch of free WiFi services at some transit hubs and bus stops in late October last year, the department has now added free USB phone charging devices at four major transit hubs and ten high-traffic bus stops across the city. This allows commuters to charge their phones anytime while waiting, ensuring their mobile devices stay powered even during extended use.

The 14 charging device locations are situated atGangshan, Nan’gangshan, Fengshan, Xiaogang transit hubs, as well as Dayuanbai Station (toward east), City Light Corridor Station (toward west), Hanshin Department Store Station (toward south), Lotus Pond Station (toward west), Kaohsiung Medical University Station (toward north), Hanshin Dome Station (toward north), MRT Sizihwan Station (toward east), Hakka Cultural Museum Station (toward east), Jianjun Station (toward west), and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Station (toward west)among other places.

Chen, a resident from another county or city, expressed delight over this thoughtful service at Kaohsiung’s bus stops. He said that running out of phone battery while traveling is one of his biggest concerns, so having such facilities available is incredibly convenient.
