Civil Aeronautics Administration Director Shen Qirong Retires; Transportation Research Institute Director Lin Zhiming to Take Over on the 16th

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced on the 7th that, as approved by the Executive Yuan, Civil Aeronautics Administration Director Shen Qi will retire upon reaching the mandatory retirement age on January 16, 2015. His position will be filled by Lin Zhiming, current Director of the Transportation Research Institute. Meanwhile, Lin Xinde, the current Deputy Director of the Transportation Research Institute, will be promoted to take over as the new institute director. The handover is scheduled for the 16th.

The incoming Civil Aeronautics Administration Director Lin Zhiming is 62 years old. He graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at National Taiwan University, holds a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States, and a master’s degree in Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. He has served as Deputy Director of the Transportation Research Institute, Director of the Road Administration Department, Director of the Aviation Administration Department, and Director-General of the Directorate General of Highways under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.

The incoming Transportation Research Institute Director Lin Xinde is 63 years old. He graduated from the Department of Electronic Engineering at National Taiwan Ocean University and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the College of Management at National Taiwan University. He passed the 1981 Special Examination for Transportation Personnel — Railway Personnel — Senior Staff Level, Electrical Engineering Category. He has held positions such as Section Chief at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Director of Taipei International Airport of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, and Deputy Director of the Civil Aeronautics Administration.
