Banqiao is getting YouBikes too！The New Taipei City Department of Transportation is phasing out the existing NewBike system in Banqiao and replacing it with the YouBike system. Residents in Banqiao can expect to access YouBikes by the end of April.

The New Taipei City Department of Transportation stated that the 13 NewBike stations in Banqiao will be gradually converted to the YouBike system. To minimize the impact of the transition, the conversion will be carried out in three phases, prioritizing stations closest to Taipei City. Starting from the 22nd, conversions will begin at Jiantan Jiangzicui, Music Park, and Yong’an Park stations, continuing to Fuzhong MRT Station, Asia Eastern Hospital MRT Station, and Banqiao Land Administration Office.

Additionally, due to higher demand, new rental stations will be added at Exit 4 of Xinpuyi MRT Station and Exit 1 of Banqiao MRT Station. By the end of April, a total of 16 YouBike stations will be operational in Banqiao, providing around 400 bicycles.

In other areas, the Department of Transportation noted that starting from May and June, the rollout of YouBike rental stations in Banqiao will accelerate, gradually expanding to Tucheng, Shulin, Yingge, and Tamsui. In line with the opening of the Airport MRT Line, surrounding areas such as Wugu, Taishan, and Linkou will also be included in the expansion plan. It is expected that by this year, New Taipei City will have a total of 200 YouBike stations and 5,300 bicycles. (News source: Central News Agency)
