Four Free Eco-Guided Tours in New Taipei City – Gather Your Friends for a Nature Mini-Trip

Sanxia Yuan Mountain Trail
This is a habitat for many insects, especially from April to June when black-winged fireflies, mock-striped fireflies, and orange fireflies dance through the woods, making it the best season for firefly watching. The event will be held on six dates: April 12, April 26, August 16, August 23, December 13, and December 27, with participants gathering at the front gate of Zhongyuan Elementary School.

Tucheng Tung Blossom Viewing Trail
Famous for its tung blossom trees, the trail also features a mix of secondary forests including long-stalked violet hemp and white peacock trees. Fireflies can also be seen glowing along the path from April to July. The event will be held on four dates: May 17, May 24, September 13, and September 20, with participants gathering at the bus terminal of Nantianmu Plaza shuttle stop.

Yingge Stone Hiking Trail
This area preserves a complete low-altitude forest ecosystem, where you can observe birds up close and enjoy the playful sights of various species. In summer, you may also see butterflies such as the yellow-costumed swallowtail, small blue butterfly, and common greenbottle fly by. The event will be held on four dates: June 14, June 28, October 18, and October 25, with the meeting point at the parking lot in front of Sun Bin Temple (Hongde Palace).
