The first Asian branch of Tokyo’s Setagaya Ramen opens in Taipei on the 24th

The only Japanese food store to receive the "Best Of New York" awardSetagaya Ramenofficially opened its Taipei Zhongxiao store on the 24th. President Maeshima Tsukasa also came to Taiwan especially for the opening. The Taipei flagship store offers Setagaya signature ramen, tonkotsu ramen, sesame oil tonkotsu ramen, spicy tonkotsu ramen, and tsukemen with tonkotsu flavor, priced between NT$180 and NT$290.

Maeshima Tsukasa, president of Tokyo’s Setagaya Ramen, said he chose Taiwan as the first overseas Asian branch because Taiwan has a rich food culture and locals have high standards when it comes to food. For this Taiwan launch, they adapted the menu to local tastes by offering tonkotsu ramen.

The broth for Setagaya signature ramen is simmered with fish stock, pork bones, and soy sauce, while the pork slices are grilled once more using an imported Japanese machine before serving.James, deputy manager of Setagaya Ramen Taiwan, said that although all ingredients are sourced locally in Taiwan, the Japanese head office maintains strict quality control over taste, so all sauces are imported from Japan.
