Feeling too much work pressure? A Japanese hotel creates a “crying room” exclusively for working women

Overwhelmed with an excessive workload and scolded by your boss for not being serious—wanting to quit your job; dealing with unreasonable customers who almost make you swear, or getting a call that your pet at home has died... Have you ever felt the urge to cry during work but could only hide in the restroom? This private need has now caught the attention of business owners as well.According to Australian media Traveller, the Mitsui Garden Hotel inShinjuku has created a “crying room” aiming to help overworked female office workers find temporary relief.

Although it may not cater to all travelers' needs, the services offered in the crying room are quite interesting, including 12 carefully selected movies that are “guaranteed to make you cry your eyes out,” such as Forrest Gump, Eraserhead in the Mind, A Tale of Mari and Three Puppies, and more, or tear-jerking manga published by Maruzen Co., Ltd., which guests can explore.

Afraid of getting puffy eyes after crying? Don’t worry, there are “velvety-soft” tissues and hot towels to help reduce swelling. Currently, during the promotional period, the room rate is about 2,500 TWD (¥10,000), and the offer is only valid until August 31.
