Tokyo’s Must-Photograph Summer Japanese-Style Goldfish Exhibition on IG – The Oiran Aquarium Makes a Gorgeous Debut

The large-scale aquarium art exhibition “Art Aquarium,” themed around goldfish, and the annual summer Eco Ed Nihonbashi Goldfish Exhibition will be held from July 5 to September 23. This year, it has exceeded all previous editions, displaying ten thousand goldfish. With artistic elements combined with lighting, the exhibition presents goldfish displays in an Edo-style setting, creating the highly popular “ECO EDO Nihonbashi 2019 – Experience the Cool of the Edo Period with All Five Senses” and a nighttime aquarium.

Art Aquarium creates a gorgeous and artistic goldfish exhibition by showcasing the graceful movements of goldfish in dark spaces, within uniquely shaped glass tanks. The interplay of lighting, water flow, and the shadows of swimming fish produces a stunning visual effect. The highlights include designs such as Oiran, Ōoku, Super Oiran, and the lotus-shaped Lotusrium, all exuding an elegant Edo-period charm that is dazzling and unforgettable.

In addition to the stunning Oiran aquarium, there is also the “Ceiling Aquarium,” designed based on Edo-period legends. A tank is built into the ceiling, where brightly colored goldfish swim gracefully as vibrant lights float above, creating a surreal and dazzling kaleidoscopic experience, as if stepping into a time tunnel.

Special stages are also held on weekends, featuring performances by popular DJs from Japan and abroad, traditional Kyoto dances from Gion arts and Gion dance performances, or contemporary ikebana (flower arrangement) shows, giving visitors the feeling of strolling through an Edo-period entertainment district. Its “Goldfish Bar” offers exclusive “Goldfish Cocktails,” sake, beer, and more, creating an adult-oriented space.
