A hidden natural oasis in the city allows travelers to stroll along a wooden-sleeper path surrounded by lush greenery, enjoying an abundance of phytoncides along the way. The trail is lined with many miscanthus plants, and the expansive views from the mountaintop, together with the vast sea of miscanthus grass, are a breathtaking sight not to be missed.

Located between Wuri District and Dadu District in Taichung, the Zhigaozhen Trail covers a round-trip distance of approximately 6 kilometers. Lush with greenery throughout, the trail features endless stretches of miscanthus grass on the hillsides, making it a popular spot for springtime outings and photography in central Taiwan.

With an elevation gain of only about 80 meters from the entrance to the peak at Haohanpo’s Xuetian Mountain, it’s easy to complete even without much physical exertion. It's a great place for walking, leisure, exercise, and resting while cycling.

Along the trail, there are many low-growing miscanthus grasses, and upon reaching the summit triangulation station, visitors can enjoy a sweeping view of a vast expanse of miscanthus fields that evoke the crisp, desolate feel of autumn. From the top, you can also overlook the towns below, taking in the full panorama of the Dadu and Wuri areas with wide, relaxing views.

The Zhigaozhen Trail is located behind the Wuri Success Railway Station. With unobstructed surroundings on the mountaintop, the views are excellent, but when the weather is clear and sunny, be sure to take precautions against sun exposure.
