Dream Lake is located at the source of the Xinshan Stream, a tributary of the Beigang River at the northern foot of Xinxing Mountain, at an altitude of325meters. Originally an irrigation reservoir for farmers, it is triangular in shape with each side about50meters long. The lake water is clear and beautiful, reflecting the dense tree shade.

Often shrouded in mist during winter, giving it a dreamlike quality, it is thus named "Dream Lake" and is considered the most beautiful lake in Xizhi. Beside Dream Lake are two pavilions where travelers can quietly enjoy its serene and refreshing atmosphere.

Moreover, Dream Lake is a breeding ground for the Taiwanese native fish species Coreius heterodon. Signboards are erected by the lake to remind anglers not to fish this protected indigenous species.

Nearby, Xinxing Mountain rises to an altitude of 499 meters. Though not a high mountain, its steep and towering massive rocks jut abruptly toward the sky from the cliffs and deep valleys. With no other peaks nearby to obstruct the view, the panorama is vast, lending it a rugged and majestic presence.
