Come to Chiayi and escape
Guan Ge Hotel enjoys a prime location. It is situated at the back of Chiayi Railway Station, just a 14-minute walk away. It is about 2 km (a 20-minute walk or 8-minute drive) from the bustling Chiayi Cultural Road Night Market and Jialefu Night Market. All popular attractions are nearby.
The surrounding area is well-equipped with amenities, including convenience stores, 85°C, and local snacks. Late-night snacks are available until 2–3 AM.

The breakfast offers a variety of traditional flavors. I never knew that in Chiayi, cold noodles are served with mayonnaise or that you can try Huopo fried rice cakes here. It saves so much time—you don’t have to go searching around. This package includes two complimentary breakfasts, and you can choose whether or not to have them. We negotiated this with the hotel because we were concerned some guests might still want breakfast and didn’t want to disappoint them.
Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 9:30.
The other diners I had meals with were all stylishly dressed elderly guests, very well-groomed and refined. The restaurant isn’t noisy and caters perfectly to the elderly’s tastes—the flavors are amazing. I can’t stop thinking about the breakfast; every dish has a homemade feel.
The first-floor lobby features a trendy café called ‘G-Lounge,’ offering lunch, dinner, drinks, and desserts.
It’s open from 11:00 AM to 10:30 PM, extended to 11:00 PM on holidays. If you don’t want to go out, there are still options here. Worth mentioning is that you can also get panda-themed food delivered in Chiayi—no need to stress about meals at all.
Oh my goodness—I was thrilled to find Fentimans British herbal craft sodas, my favorite drink, actually sold here. You’d be hard-pressed to find these at other hotels.
The British century-old soda brand Fentimans, founded in 1905, insists on using only natural plants in brewing. The production process takes seven days, involving elaborate steps like extraction, blending, and fermentation.
Even the tea used in the restaurant is imported from the UK—it’s recommended by 50 Michelin-starred restaurants and used in top-tier global dining establishments.
This classic hotel offers a refined experience.
In Taipei, everyone loves dining at Hsin Yeh, a well-known traditional Taiwanese restaurant. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the professional aunties always recommend dishes that suit us. The dining experience is wonderful.
Guange Hotel also has a lot of history. The interior is very well maintained, constantly innovating, giving it more warmth than a new hotel and making travelers feel completely at ease.
The rooms are spacious and give a relaxed, homely feel.
The advantage of an old hotel is usually that the rooms are large, the hallways are wide, and they have big windows letting in plenty of sunlight.
