The Danhai Light Rail Has Turned into a Dreamy Photo Spot: Three Adorable Jimmy Liao-Themed Trains You Must Shoot

The Danhai Light Rail has, since November 26, continued the public art theme “Close Your Eyes for a While” created by Jimmy Liao, launching three super-cute Jimmy Liao-themed trains and a digital guide system, turning the Danhai Light Rail into an artistic exhibition space.

The Danhai Light Rail officially opened on December 23 of last year. To celebrate its first anniversary, three Jimmy Liao-themed trains — “Fantasy Forest,” “Animal Paradise,” and “Floating City” — have been introduced. The interiors and exteriors of the trains are decorated with illustrations from the storybooks, featuring images such as a little girl, floating hats, and city motifs. There are also cute plush dolls of the storybook characters inside, making passengers feel as if they’ve stepped into the world of Jimmy Liao’s picture books.

The New Taipei Metro Corporation has also collaborated with the Institute for Information Industry and Mobitrend International Co., Ltd., with Relaybaton Co., Ltd. developing a digital guide system that integrates Jimmy Liao’s public art illustrations with AR technology. This system presents information about the Danhai Light Rail’s features, Jimmy Liao’s public artworks, nearby attractions, and local businesses in diverse ways. Additionally, two AR filter cameras compatible with Facebook and Instagram, as well as two digital interactive mini-games, have been introduced, allowing passengers to play and take photos while riding the light rail.

To make it convenient for visitors to take photos, one themed train is scheduled to stop at the platform of the Hongshulin Station during fixed time slots each day, with cute photo props provided onboard for social media shots.
