Lin Yijin, the legislative candidate for Taiwan’s fourth electoral district in Tainan, today unveiled her Yongkang campaign headquarters accompanied by Lin Zhiqiang, the youngest mayor in Taiwan from Hsinchu City. Lin Yijin said she hopes to run a different kind of campaign, breaking away from traditional images of campaign offices by transforming the space into a family-friendly playground to implement family-oriented policies. She emphasized that this is “the most heartwarming campaign headquarters in Taiwan,” and believes visitors will feel the difference upon coming.

Lin Yijin stated that she invited Lin Zhiqiang because he is the mayor who places the highest priority on family and childcare policies, which aligns perfectly with the main themes of her political platform. Therefore, she specially invited him to accompany her for the unveiling. In the future, once she enters the Legislative Yuan, she will continue to promote family-friendly policies so that young parents can afford to have and raise children.

Upon entering Lin Yijin’s Yongkang campaign headquarters, visitors are greeted by her large campaign poster. Turning the corner, they find a cozy family play area. Lin Yijin said that the space was originally a show home, and she specially invited a young interior designer to lead the design of the headquarters. In addition to traditional campaign elements, the headquarters also showcases the campaign’s core themes through the creativity of young people.

Lin Yijin mentioned that neighbors near the headquarters often bring their children to play — sometimes a grandfather with his granddaughter or a mother with her child. While adults watch baseball games or discuss political talk shows, kids can happily play in the ball pit. This, she said, is exactly what she hopes to achieve: creating a space where everyone can move about freely.

Additionally, she has set up a family reading area, and she especially recommends the works of Ms. Xing Jiahui, the recipient of this year’s Golden Tripod Special Contribution Award. Lin Yijin said, “I specifically requested that Xing Jiahui’s works be included here. Her books have deep meaning, and I hope children can learn about the history of the White Terror and the rights to bodily autonomy through these readings.”

Lin Zhiqiang said that family policies are highly valued in Hsinchu and are also a national policy vision. He believes that once Lin Yijin enters the Legislative Yuan, she will also be able to advocate for the welfare of families and young children. He also specially brought a box of oranges to give to Lin Yijin, wishing her campaign “great fortune.”
