The National Palace Museum has launched a series of family-friendly activities. On the evening of April 4 at 6:00 PM, a special Children’s Day weekend performance titled “The Magical Golden Axe” by the Puppet Theater Troupe will be held in the B1 Hall of the Museum’s Main Building. At 2:30 PM that afternoon, the Children’s Learning Center will host “National Treasures Magic Book – Special Children’s Day 2014 Event,” where both adults and children can enjoy up-close magic performances featuring replicas of cultural relics. At 7:15 PM, the “National Treasures Travel Group – Parent-Child Art Exploration Activity” will take place.

In 2010, the emerging puppet theater troupe “Taipei Puppet Theater” performed “The Magical Golden Axe,” adapted from the world-famous Aesop’s Fable: “The Golden Axe? The Silver Axe? Or the Iron Axe?” Which one really belongs to San? And what might happen if one insists on taking an axe that doesn’t belong to them?

Additionally, the museum has specially collaborated with a children’s theater troupe to host the “National Treasures Travel Group – Parent-Child Art Exploration Activity.” This event combines a screening of the film “Little Palace Fantasy” with visits to themed exhibits in the Main Building, incorporating music, dance, drama, and Q&A sessions into the cultural exploration journey. Professional actors from the children’s theater troupe will dress up as cultural relics from the museum and perform at various exhibition rooms, interacting closely with visitors. Through simple physical movements, hands-on experiences with replicas, and sensory activities such as smell, different themed exhibition rooms are transformed into fascinating guided tour spots, offering imaginative and sensory-rich experiences.

Online registration for both the “National Treasures Magic Book – Special Children’s Day 2014 Event” and the “National Treasures Travel Group – Parent-Child Art Exploration Activity” is now full, and on-site registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached. The museum advises that, based on past experience, interested participants should arrive early to avoid missing out. No registration is required for “The Magical Golden Axe.” The museum further notes that the Main Building will extend its opening hours until 9:00 PM on Children’s Day. Taiwanese citizens may present their ID cards to enjoy free admission to the Main Building from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
